Announcing an Uber drivers’ LOG-OFF strike, Monday 6 August 2018 – 7am till 9:30am in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. This following Uber’s introduction of “upfront fares” and UberPool, both features designed to further shortchange and underpay drivers, eroding even more their already poor working conditions. All under a false “independent contractors” pretence. We are calling on all drivers to switch OFF their Uber driver app and refrain from taking Uber bookings between the hours of 7am until 9:30am on that day (Monday 6 August 2018 – 7am till 9:30am). What are drivers demanding? Click here to read the full announcement .
Hi RSDU admins, I will be supporting this strike. I have done a video about this on my Uber youtube channel. If you can share it and subscribe I'd appreciate it. Thanks. You can check it out here: And apologies I incorrectly stated the strike time in the video however I have advised the correction in the DESCRIPTION as 7am-930am. thanks

So what's next? Next strike planned? You probably need to ramp up action to gain significant media attention. I didn't know about it until after the event. I see there was no reaction or comment from Uber.
Thousands of drivers from all around the country went on strike. The strike was mentioned over a number of leading newspapers about one week ahead of the strike. May i suggest you subscribe to our newsletter and be informed in case of more actions. Upcoming actions will be announced in due date.
Thanks, already subscribed to the news letter. As a suggestion, you may reach more drivers by getting it mentioned on radio news. I only found the newspaper coverage afterwards by online search. Also try leaflets at the various airport holding car parks.
We should also get nore volunteers to help us better spread the news in Perth. Anyone intrested? Please raise thier hand.
Better add Ola to the next strike! They’ve just dropped the fares for customers without even telling the drivers. These b@stards are all the bloody same.
Yes. On top of their changing the commission from 7% to 15% after telling driver that all driver with a high rating would stay on 7% if they signed on quickly. They now deny that was said or said by someone else!
At the end of the day they all must compete with the big dog Uber, or die. Once Uber is forced to lift their game, the rest will follow. A race to the bottom.
