    How do the GoCatch changes affect you?

    Hi James,

    Things are changing fast in the Taxi and Rideshare market. Legislation is changing, prices are changing, and technology is continually improving.

    What Does This All Mean For You?

    At GoCatch we’re doing our best to give all drivers a better deal. We don’t have hundreds of millions of dollars, but our lower costs means that we can give drivers higher commission rates. This means you earn more with GoCatch.

    We’ve made a lot of changes to the app in the last 6 months. Here are just a few:

    You See The Destination
    We respect drivers and want to give you as much information as we can so you choose the jobs that work for you. We also know that the best drivers – the drivers who make the most money, take every job that comes. One job always leads to another.

    Taxi Drivers Can Accept Economy (Rideshare) Jobs
    When there are no Rideshare vehicles available the job request is sent to the nearest Taxi. This way passengers get picked up more quickly and Taxi drivers can get more work when they are quiet. We don’t discriminate against different types of drivers. We believe that a driver is a driver, and that everyone should be treated equally.

    Please remember that if you are a Taxi driver and you accept an Economy job – the passenger receives an in-app estimate prior to requesting the job through app and the fare payment will go through the app directly to you.

    You don’t use the Taxi meter and it is not a fixed price job. The fare is calculated by the app automatically.

    This is very important as our Economy fare passengers want to step out of the car when they arrive at the destination without the hassle of waiting for a terminal payment.

    Cash Jobs & In-App Payments
    For Taxi jobs, GoCatch gives passengers the option to pay with cash or through the app with their saved payment method. The passenger chooses at the start of the job how they want to pay and that is what happens at the end. We make it clear by showing you how the passenger wants to pay and if you see the message below, you know that the passenger will pay outside the app. If not, then the payment will pay through the app:


    As a professional driver you can help the passenger with this if they are confused. Tell the passenger how the system works and let them know that if they select Cash, that is how they will pay for the job – they cannot change their payment method during or at the end of a trip.

    Some drivers have tried to force passengers to pay twice for the trip. This has sadly resulted in a really bad experience for these passengers. If you want more jobs coming through GoCatch, please help us by doing the right thing by the passengers. If not, then please don’t take these jobs away from the drivers who do want them.

    GoCatch Support & Policies
    We don’t kick drivers off our platform without recourse or proper process. That’s because we know that there are always two sides to every story and the passenger is not always right.

    If you ever have an issue with tolls, payments, or a fee that was incorrectly charged (everyone makes mistakes) then please let us know in the app. You can create a support ticket by sending us a message after a job happens or by going to:

    Menu > Help > Contact Us

    Our small team works very hard and will get a response to you as soon as possible.

    As many of you know, we are making a huge effort right now to improve GoCatch and you will see more improvements coming through very soon. If you want to help us make it better as well (and I really hope you do) please give GoCatch customers the best service you can. That’s all we ask.

    GoCatch is still here despite anti-competitive companies with bigger budgets. We’re not going anywhere and we will keep fighting to give drivers a better deal.

    Last but not least, I want to acknowledge all the drivers who have been doing GoCatch jobs since 2011, 2012 and 2013 when we first started and who are still doing GoCatch jobs today. Many who I know personally - thank you for using GoCatch.
